Learn to Code With the Powerpuff Girls

Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom aren’t just saving the world before bedtime this week – they’re saving the internet too! Cartoon Network and Scratch (a really awesome website that helps teach kids to code) have teamed up for a Powerpuff Girls coding partnership to help inspire young girls (and boys) to embrace their inner programmers.

The Powerpuff Girls Scratch program, “Make It Fly” has already launched on the Cartoon Network and Scratch websites and starting tonight, two coding themed Powerpuff Girls episodes are set to air on CN. Using the “Make It Fly” application, you’ll be able to write a program that can transform anything or anyone from a boring ol’ thing to a super high flying wonder. You’ll choose a sprite (an image) or draw one of your own, give it a catchphrase, select a background, and then send it soaring through the skies all using easy to understand instructions and drag and drop code elements. If you need help, just reference the handy tutorial here.

Once you’ve gotten your fill of the Powerpuff Girls coding app, you can move on to the other Scratch applications to learn how to code everything from games, animations, and more. Pretty cool!

Now that you’re a master coder, it’s time to watch the two computer science themed Powerpuff Girls episodes. “Viral Spiral” is set to air on June 9th, and the PPG will have to take on one of their most dangerous foes yet – the Amoeba Boys! When the boys infiltrate the new video game that Bubbles programmed, they don’t stop there. They start messing with cat photos, ordering hundreds of used cotton swabs, and put the entire internet in jeopardy.

Can Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup figure out how to save the day or will the internet be ruined forever?
