Coady and the Creepies #2 Brings the LOLs, the Feels, and the Chimichangas
Coady and the Creepies #2 hits comic shops tomorrow, and it’s an issue you definitely don’t want to miss!
For those of you not in the know – Coady and the Creepies is a rad new comic miniseries from BOOM! Studios, created by Liz Prince and Amanda Kirk. The series follows an awesome punk rock band of sisters on their journey to rock out, collect enamel pins, and win the battle of the bands. The story is filled with clever jokes and fun references, but there’s more to Coady than meets the eye. After a tragic accident, Criss now needs a wheelchair, Corey was left with a gnarly face scar, and Coady is secretly a ghost! Her sisters don’t that she’s a ghost and she’s trying to keep it a secret, but it’s not going to be easy.
Issue #2 kicks off with Coady, Corey, Criss, and José driving the tour van to their next show. Along the way, they discover an unexpected secret about Coady, experience some total weirdness in the desert, and the reader learns a lot more about the characters backstories and insecurities. There’s also a subtle Frozen reference and a ton of chimichangas. Like more than one human person could ever possibly need. You’ll also get the secret recipe for making a patented Corey-ccino.
We love how this issue is packed with great laughs (we literally almost choked on our water while reading this issue because we were laughing so hard) and is balanced out with a ton of feels. Even though this series is only 4 issues, writer Liz Prince has taken the time to really make each character unique and each issue really count. In just a few panels readers learn so much about about each sisters individual insecurities and personalities that make you love them even more. On the surface it’s edgy punk rock fun, but the story dives so much deeper. It’s a total must-read.
