Yoshi’s Woolly World is a Warm and Fuzzy Adventure
The ridiculously adorable Yoshi’s Woolly World has arrived! The game is an absolute must-play. If you’re a fan of Yoshi games in general, the gameplay is much like what you’re used to, but the woolly style of Craft Island gives the game a brand new feel. The enemies are so darn cute you almost don’t even want to destroy them! (Except for Kamek. Because even though he’s beyond adorable in this game, he’s still ruining everything with his shapey magic)
The gameplay itself is on the easier side, unless you’re looking to fully collect every pattern, Miiverse stamp, and bonus level the game has to offer. Either way, you’ll definitely find yourself aww-ing and your heart will melt at the sheer cuteness of this game.
Yoshi’s Woolly World Game Trailer:
Here’s all the Stuff that Makes Yoshi’s Woolly World Warm and Fuzzy:
Gorgeously Crafty Graphics:
Everything in the game from from backgrounds to enemies to items are crafted out of wool, felt, buttons, and other crafting materials. The graphics completely immerse you in the game and make you feel like you’re really there inside this warm and fuzzy world. It’s basically endless smiles, all the way through!
There’s SO MUCH Stuff to Collect:
Wonder Wool – Collecting 5 of these in a level unlocks a Yoshi pattern!
Smiley Flowers – Collecting 40 of these in a level unlocks a bonus stage! (See, we told you it’s not so easy when you try to collect everything!!)
Stamp Beads – These will unlock special Yoshi’s Woolly World Miiverse stamps!
Winged Clouds – Hitting one of these bad boys with a yarn ball unlocks special items, hidden areas, and more.
There’s Over 50 Patterns to Customize Yoshi With:
Head on down to the Yoshi Hut to browse through and change into the patterns you’ve collected throughout the game. There’s over 50 different patterns to collect, including Circus Yoshi, Moo Moo Yoshi (a cow pattern!), Yoshimelon (watermelon pattern), and Cookie Yoshi (a throwback to the OG NES game, Yoshi Cookie!)
There’s also a bunch of Yoshi patterns based on Nintendo consoles, like Wii and Wii U, GameCube, N64, Super Nintendo, and NES!
You Can Use Your amiibo:
The 50 unlockable patterns don’t even include the ones you can unlock using amiibo!
Pretty much every amiibo currently on the market will unlock a pattern in the game. (aka – using a Mario amiibo will allow you to play as Mario Yoshi pattern) The patterns don’t give you any additional abilities, unless you think that being cute is an ability, which we totally do.
Using ANY Yoshi amiibo (including Yarn Yoshi and Mega Yarn Yoshi) will allow you to play as Double Yoshi. You’ll get to control two Yoshi’s at once, giving you a big advantage. You can gobble him up and turn him into a yarn ball, which is super helpful.
There’s a Co-Op Mode:
Speaking of playing with 2 Yoshi’s at once…for the first time in a Yoshi game, you’re able to team up with a friend or family member to play through the levels. You can help each other out by shooting each other to hard to reach places or keeping baddies distracted while the other one plays through a difficult area. Or you gobble up your friends and turn them into yarn balls. Whether you play it naughty or nice, it’s tons of fun!
There’s Lots of Hidden Secrets to Discover:
Pull on a loose thread to reveal a hidden part of a level. Knit up new paths. There’s lots of hidden secrets, so don’t be afraid to explore the game to it’s fullest!
The Abilities and Transformations are Really Fun to Play With:
Mega Yoshi makes you huge and allows you to plow through a level, destroying everything in your path.
Umbrella Yoshi turns you into an umbrella and allows you to surf along the wind.
Moto Yoshi turns you into a Yoshi bike, letting you zip through levels with super speed.
Mole Yoshi allows you to burrow underground, mole style!
Sky Pop Yoshi transforms you into the cutest little airplane that’s ever existed.
Mermaid Yoshi gives you a sequin tail that lets you swim through water.
Did you think we were going to leave out Yoshi’s #1 adorable buddy, Poochy the dog?! Poochy is a great companion, letting you ride on him through tricky areas and he even barks when there’s Wonder Wool nearby!
Now that you’re on board with the crafty cuteness of Yoshi’s Woolly World, we’ll sew our mouths shut and let you get to playing!
