8 Reasons to Be Excited About Skylanders SuperChargers

Skylanders SuperChargers is finally here, and we couldn’t be more excited to drive evil crazy! SuperChargers brings a ton of exciting new features to the Skylanders universe, so we thought it might be good to give a quick run through of what’s new and exciting in the game.

8 Reasons to Be Excited About Skylanders SuperChargers:

1. It’s a new Skylanders game:
While this might seem a little obvious, a new Skylanders game is always something to be excited about. Getting to hang out with your favorite characters again and head out on an all new adventure is worth a moment of jumping up and down and freaking out a little.

2. There’s a brand new class of Skylanders called SuperChargers:
The SuperChargers are super elite, super tough, and super ready to take down Kaos in their SuperCharged vehicles! Use the SuperChargers to complete quests, mini games, puzzles, and more!

3. Speaking of vehicles, you can now take the world by land, sea, and sky:
SuperChargers introduces vehicles into to the mix! There’s race cars, boats, tanks, motorcycles, helicopters, airplanes, and even submarines. The vehicles can be unlocked by placing them onto the new Portal of Power, and they can even be customized in the game with super cool mods and weapons.

Any Skylanders character can drive any vehicle, but if you pair a SuperCharged Skylander with it’s matching vehicle, you’ll be able to unlock special combos and abilities you wouldn’t get otherwise. The vehicle toys have lots of moving parts, meaning you can take them on real life adventures as well as the in-game adventures.

4. There’s a racing mode in the game – and you can play it with your friends:
What good would a game based around vehicles be if you couldn’t race them?! Thankfully, the geniuses behind SuperChargers brought this to life in the game. There’s 6 tracks included with the Starter Pack (2 land, 2, sea, 2 air) and you can choose to race offline against your friends or in online multiplayer mode. (You can also play multiplayer in adventure mode!) Find the best route to beat your opponents to the finish line or try to get the fastest time in the time trials.

If you’ve got a Wii or 3DS, you can pick up Skylanders SuperChargers Racing, a companion to SuperChargers. This game is solely based around racing and contains even more tracks, power-ups, boosts, and brings the racing experience to the next level.

5. It’s even coming to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV!
In addition to the usual consoles, SuperChargers will be available on iPhone, iPad, and the new Apple TV. There’s a special version of the starter pack that you’ll need in order to play on mobile. It includes a controller, a Portal of Power, two Skylanders, and a vehicle. The mobile version will be the same as the console version, but set up in “chapters”, making playing and saving on the go a little easier.

6. You can use amiibo in the game:
Okay fine, you can’t use ALL amiibo, but you CAN use the special Hammer Slam Bowser and Turbo Charge Donkey Kong amiibo that were made especially for SuperChargers. BONUS: You can use them in Mario Party 10 and Super Smash Brothers as well.

7.  A SuperCharged Comic:
If you pre-ordered your copy of the game at Game Stop, you’ll get an exclusive comic book, “Unexpected Allies”, based on SuperChargers that even includes Bowser and DK. If you can’t get your hands on a copy of the special comic, don’t fret – IDW publishes a Skylanders comic with new issues every month that you can read instead.

8. There’s now over 300 Skylanders characters:
That’s a heck of a lot of Skylanders. Only 400+ to go until they reach Pokemon status! You can use any of the 300+ Skylanders in the game, too, which is totally awesome.
