Gotta Solve ‘Em All in Pokemon Picross
Pokemon Picross combines the challenging puzzleyness of Picross with the adorableness of Pokemon. If you’ve never played a Picross game before, it’s a grid based puzzle that reveals a picture as you solve it. In this case, those pictures will be of Pokemon!
While the game grid may look intimidating at first, it’s actually not so bad. The tutorials are helpful and the first few stages are easier puzzles and smaller grids, making it really simple to get into the game and learn how the whole thing works. Sometimes harder puzzles and bigger grids can take awhile to solve, but in Pokemon Picross, you get something you’ve never had before – Pokemon abilities!
Some of the Pokemon in the game have special abilities to help you get through each puzzle. Lucario’s Hyper Scan will scan the board for you and fix any incorrect square you’ve filled in. Squirtle can use Blue Force to turn any numbers from black to blue, showing that you’re able to fill them in. There’s lot of other helpful abilities as well. Each time you use one, you’ll need to wait for it to recharge in order to use it again, so you’ll need to be strategic about it.
With each puzzle you solve, you catch the Pokemon in the picture. There’s currently over 300 puzzles available, which is about half of the entire Pokemon roster. (Including Mega Evolved Pokemon, as well as Legendarys and Mythicals.)
If the game performs well, it’s safe to say that we’ll see updates that add in additional puzzles and Pokemon. In addition to the puzzles, there’s also a Daily Challenge and an Advanced Mode, which mean you’re getting you’re money’s worth, since this game is FREE.
Additional Picrites can be purchased in-game, but you can earn them as you play, so unless you’re trying to catch ’em all, you can play quite a bit of this game without ever needing to spend any money.
Head on over to your nearest Pokecenter and get restored to tip-top shape, check out the gameplay trailer, download the game from the Nintendo 3DS eShop, and get ready to battle…or…puzzle, in this case! Gotta solve ’em all!
