The Arcanum Training Institute has never been easy to navigate with its ever-changing location and lush, intricate world filled with magic abilities, plenty of secrets, and some of the most delectable treats ever described in a story. Thankfully, Ella has agreed to share some of the wisdom she’s learned firsthand (with the help of author Dhonielle Clayton) because you never know when your invitation to attend AIT will arrive!

Ella Durand’s Guide to Magic School:

ELLA: This is your guide to the Arcanum Training Institute for Marvelous and Uncanny Endeavors from Ella Durand, the first Conjure student to ever attend this magic school in the sky. Only Marvellers go to this institute, but now I do, too. Trust me, you’ll want to take notes because I made so many mistakes when I started Level One at the A.T.I, you should let me save you the embarrassment. Be sure to memorize everything then hide this book. Fewels are always watching and looking for magic. They aren’t allowed to know about it. They’d ruin it.

Keep this checklist close and out of sight:

⭐️Always remember that the magic school in the skies changes location. Be on the lookout for your starpost letter and the coordinates. Sky ferries will be waiting to take you up to the campus.

⭐️Pack extra sweets because there are magical creatures called rotties that live in the walls, and they will help you if you ever get lost or leave your assignments in your room or need information … but they have a sweet tooth and require something sugary for their services.

⭐️Once you get into your dormitory room, be sure to check that your starpost box is working so you can receive letters from your loved ones back home.

⭐️ Don’t forget to iron your mantle. Arcanum doctors don’t like wrinkles in your school uniform. My gran had our old iron put a wrinkle-free spell in mine. Level Ones wear white. Level Twos wear orange. Level Threes wear blue. Level Fours wear red. Let me know if you need the spell.

⭐️When you go to the library, don’t forget the Head Librarian, Madame Madge, is a little grumpy so don’t be too loud … and don’t be alarmed that sometimes the books you might take out will erase themselves or redact certain lines. I was worried at first, then learned that the Marvellers have a lot of secrets.

⭐️Beware of the photo-balloons if you stay out past curfew. They are pesky and will snitch on you to Dean Nabakova. She can be a little mean. Stay on her good side.

⭐️The Dining Hall has everything you’ll ever want to eat … from dancing dumplings to spinning samosa to endless noodles to jerk wings that insult you as you eat them. You’ll never go hungry.

⭐️And most of all … keep your eyes on your news-box. There’s a criminal named Gia Trivelino on the loose. She is very angry and has lost something important to her. Watch your back!
