The Powerpuff Girls Are Getting New Comic Series

Rejoice, Townsvillians! The Powerpuff Girls aren’t just your favorite new cartoon – they’re about to become your favorite comic heroes. This Summer, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom are teaming up for a brand new comic series from IDW.

The new Powerpuff Girls comic will be super legit too, as it’s being written by two of the writers from the cartoon, Jake Goldman and Haley Mancini (who also voices the bratty Princess Morebucks on the show) and illustrated by Derek Charm, who was also the illustrator on the original PPG comic. Legit. As. Heck.

We’ll also see a side of the Powerpuff Girls we don’t often see – what they do when they’re NOT fighting crime and kicking baddie butt. It won’t all be fun and games though, because Mojo Jojo is definitely making an appearance. He’ll show up on Daytime TV (which feels just so RIGHT for him – hopefully he’ll still be rocking that kitty nail art) and launch a totally evil plan. The team behind the series says that they may do a continuous arc style story at some point, but for now, they’re switching up the action in each issue.

If you’re like us, you probably can’t wait another possible moment for this series to begin – thankfully we only have to wait until July to see Buttercup, Blossom, and Bubbles hit the shelves of our favorite comic shops.
