The Minecraft Super Mario Mash-up Pack is Kind of Amazing
Good news, Mario fans! Nintendo and Mojang have teamed up to bring you something completely awesome. The Minecraft Super Mario Mash-up Pack! While that may sound like the stuff that dreams are made of, it’s actually happening in real life. On May 17th, Nintendo will release a FREE update exclusively for the WiiU version of Minecraft that will let you build, play, and explore in the world of Mario!
As you can see from the trailer, it’s pretty much the greatest thing that’s ever happened in the history of gaming. Okay, maybe it’s not that exciting, but it’s pretty darn cool!
The update will contain 40 skins, letting you transform the in-game characters into Mario, Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Toadette, and more. Instead of the usual Creepers and Zombies, you’ll have to fend off Hammer Bros, Dry Bones, Shy Guys, Kamek, and other Mario villains.
Almost all of the textures you find in Minecraft from dirt to bricks will be replaced with the Mario equivalent, basically turning Minecraft into Mario Maker. You can play as you normally would, crafting and exploring through Minecraft’s vast worlds with a Mario twist OR you can use your new Mario themed goodness to try and recreate some of your most favorite Mario levels. There’s even 15 classic songs from Mario 64 to jam out to while you get your craft on. There’s so much stuff in the Super Mario Mash-up Pack, we have no idea why they’re giving it away for FREE!
Minecraft has been download-only on the WiiU up until now, but on June 17th, a physical version is being released in stores for $29.99, and will include all this Mario stuff as well. If you’ve been on the fence about picking up a copy, this may be the mind changer you’ve been hoping for. If you already have Minecraft downloaded, all you need to do is download the update on May 17th to get all this fantastic new stuff.
