The My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Trade Paperback Has Arrived

Calling all Canterlot High students! The Equestria Girls trade paperback is finally here!

Most My Little Pony fans know about the ongoing (and completely magical) Friendship is Magic comic series from IDW, but did you know that they released two special issues featuring the Equestria Girls? They’ve actually become a bit hard to find unless you’re a hardcore collector, but that’s about to change, because this new Equestria Girls trade paperback is a collection of those two issues! Even if you’re not usually a fan of comics, if you’re a fan of MLP you should definitely give this a read, especially if you’re always pining for more Equestria Girls goodness like we are.

Here’s what you can expect:

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Trade Paperback
Back in 2013, the My Little Pony Annual #1 was all about the Equestria Girls. It was a bit of a companion to the original EG movie, a 48 page one-off issue featuring two prequel stories to the film.
The first story was “The Rise and Fall of Sunset Shimmer”, a short 8 page read that gives us a little glimpse into what life was like for Sunset Shimmer at Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns. This story was originally part of a San Diego Comic Con exclusive issue of MLP:FiM #9, making it pretty rare, but was thankfully included in this annual (and now the EG trade!) for the world to see.

The second story, “Equestria Girls”, is a 40 page read about the Mane 6 as they struggle their way through their freshman year at Canterlot High. A must-read for any fan of the Equestria Girls movies.

The other issue in this trade is the 2014 Holiday Special. Once again, this story focuses mainly on Sunset Shimmer. Since she hasn’t seen her family in awhile and doesn’t have too many friends, Sunset finds herself being a bit of a Grinch about the holiday season. In this issue, Sunset learns to open up a bit to the people around her as she discovers what the holidays are really all about.

We’re super psyched to have these issues in one easy to read paperback collection, but it definitely leaves us wishing that IDW would release an entire Equestria Girls themed ongoing series, or at least a miniseries!
